Annie, Raleigh, NC

Who: Annie
What: 100% cotton
When: May 1st, 2010
Where: At the 5K for Lila J in Austin, TX
Why: Well, my pal, Jess, put together a 5K in honor of my daughter Lila. It was the 1st annual. It was surprisingly successful. I mean, it's not like Race for the Cure, which makes millions, but, for the first race, it went pretty well. The day before, there were only 30 people registered, most of which were my friends and relations. The day of, we rented some space at the outdoor mall the where the race was being held, and we got a 100 more runners. It was an evening run, because it's May in Austin, but even at 7, it was still toasty. I ran-it was a little-the course was a little confusing-there was a 1mile, a 2mile, and a 5K going on, and one of the volunteers lead me and my sister back to the start after just 2 miles. When we saw the time clock, we were really excited. Then, it slowly dawned on me that there was no way I ran that fast. But, on the website, I'm still listed as having done a 5K, so, it looks like I got a really rockin' time.

I like the idea that the run was confusing. That you just had runners milling around running somewhere for cancer.
