Sarah, Queens, NY

Who: Sarah
What: 100% cotton, size medium
When: June, this year
Where: Busted Tees
Why: I was on Governor's Island for the Figment Arts Festival. I saw the t-shirt on a girl in line for the ferry home. It took a minute for the meaning to register. At first I just liked the graphic, but, once I got it, I was overwhelmed with a desire to have it-- I'm a huge history geek. I ran to her to ask where she'd gotten it, it probably frightened her. A couple of friends and I were at the festival to perform Shakespeare improv, and, on the way over, my guy friend had knocked into the same girl with one of our props-a big sign that said, "censored". She saw me with him, and probably wondered why we wouldn't leave her alone.
I like this shirt because it, and a number of my other shirts, demonstrate my new-found willingness to accept what I am, kind of a nerd. I mean, come on, I'm a member of a history club, Horatio Gates and the Fidasconauts.

*the figure is Alexander Hamilton, who was killed by Aaron Burr in a duel on July 11th, 1804
