Terrah, "She's got the luck of the Irish...kinda", Canada

Who: Terrah
What: 100% cotton, made in El Salvador, with US parts
When: March 17, 2007
Where: Manhattan, New York, during the St. Patrick's Day parade
Why: I thought this shirt was great ever since Sarah McDermott wore it back from a trip from NYC in college. Sarah's shirt was white with green lettering, and I wanted to be different (but the same). I happened to be visiting an old friend in Queens over St. Patrick's Day 2007. I told my friend about the aforementioned shirt, and we made it a goal to find one for each of us. Logic would dictate that a New York shamrock shirt would be easy to find on St. Patrick's Day in NYC, but the shirt was everything but ubiquitous. We scoured every boutique, Bohemian dive, tourist trap and novelty shop surrounding Central Park, and we finally found the shirt. In my last-ditch effort to be cool like Sarah McDermott and festive like all the drunks at the parade, I forked out about $20.00 for my new garb. It was worth it, though, because 4 years later, my 100% cotton shamrock smock doesn't have a single hole, stain, or embedded smell. Success? I think so.

Brooke "Doesn't Fit In Either", Idaho Falls, ID

Who: Brooke, 28
What: cotton, medium
When: I know I've had this for as long as I can remember, so probably 2003-ish
Where: JCPenny, men's department, holiday novelty tee table--actually, this one never made it to the table
Why: I worked in the men's department at JCPenny for YEARS (4 or so). Anyone who's worked retail over the holiday knows how exciting that gets. I'd spend hours and hours folding and re-folding t-shirts and wondering why Charlie Brown and the Grinch always got all the attention. Then, we got this on in. I bought it straight from the box. I wanted to by the whole box, but JCPenny didn't pay me enough to afford such a treasure. I've grown up watching this movie and was so excited to see Rudolph and Hermey get a little publicity. Besides, I'm definitely a misfit. Who can't relate to an elf who'd rather be a dentist? Talk about an identity crisis in its purest form.

Liz, Rexburg, ID

Who: Liz, 24
What: cotton/poly, size 14-16
When: a few years ago
Where: a hand-me-down from Kathleen, an old roommate
Why: I like this shirt because it's so disturbingly gross. The fact that it's old and cracking and stained just intensifies its glory. Recently, I've started to wear this shirt when I feel sick...sort of an outward representation of my inner feelings, a warning to the world that I don't feel well. Oh, and it glows in the dark, too.
